Heritage 3D Modelling & Visualisation

Utilising High Definition Scanning and 3D modelling techniques the Severn Partnership can help in the recording and preserving of historic sites and structures. Our scanners are ideal for quickly capturing in high levels of detail heritage sites of any size. This can be done from a safe distance, with no chance of interfering or damaging with the site. The completed laser scan can then be used to create 2D plans as well as modelled and visualised in 3D for a wide range of applications.

Heritage 3D laser scanning and modelling applications include:

• Archiving of Heritage structures - the keeping of 3D historical records can help specialists analyse structures better and help in restoration projects
• Marketing and Media - 3D models and visualisations can be used in promotional campaigns and media releases
• Interactive Models - animated online 3D models and interactive videos can be used to help educate and promote historically important sites
• Structural Alterations - any alterations can be planned before, monitored during and analysed after using Laser Scanning and 3D modelling techniques
• Deformation Analysis - damaged or collapsing historical objects can be monitored using Laser Scanning and detailed 3D models
• Inaccessible Location - Areas which may be inaccessible by normal means can use Aerial LIDAR and Photogrammetry to collect 2D and 3D records
• Computational Analysis - 3D models can be used for Acoustical analysis investigations (sound quality), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and within other Computational Analysis tools

• Laser Scanning of the 'Founding Fathers' statue in Birmingham for historical archiving records
